FESTIVAL OF COLOURS

One day I was googling pictures for my son’s geography project, it required pictures of the planet Earth in spherical form. Whilst swishing the ipad screen upwards with my index finger I stumbled upon a beautiful satellite image of the Earth. Our planet looked so vivid like a colorful marble so much that I got captivated by the beauty of the image for sometime just like an art lover sitting before a masterpiece stunned and splurging in its beauty.

While I kept wondering at the image, many colourful thoughts started splashing in my brain that all of a sudden the spherical Earth turned into a multiple flavoured  lollipop with colourful swirls which sucked my brain into deeper musings.

One may be a believer of God, Science or the Big Bang theory although whatever may be one's belief, is it not unique that life has been created not on a gloomy gaseous planet or on some monochromatic planet but gifted to the colourful enigmatic planet Earth? I just cannot imagine a colourless, monochromatic, homogeneous life.

We all are inside-out brimming with colours. Even our state of mind and personality are correlated with colours -

Black - suggests nervousness or tense, it symbolizes elegance, power and death yet it is attractive and gives depth to every other colour.

Gray - is a feeling of anxiousness and stress. It is a colour of conservatism.

Yellow - is the colour of energy and happiness. It stands for vigor and positivity.

Amber or orange- oozes out warmth, joy and creativity. Orange is energy.

Red - of course is an extreme colour which bleeds intense moods of love, passion and vitality appropriately stands for danger and leadership.

Pink - expresses cheerfulness, beauty and sensitivity, no wonder it’s the colour of valentine, love and romance.

Purple - indicates clarity and luxury.

Violet - is a strong colour expressing spirituality and freedom.

Indigo - this colour demonstrates devotion and justice.

Blue - the thought of this colour itself brings in the mood of relaxation and calmness, makes one feel at ease. Blue strongly indicates loyalty and confidence.

Blue-green or turquoise suggests that you are alert and charged at the same time, contended and relaxed. It is the colour of friendship and feminism.

Green - evokes a mood of relaxation, comfort and soothing. As everyone knows, green proclaims life, nature and health.

Brown - expresses the feeling of fear and restlessness, yet it articulates foundation and security.

So true to Danny Kaye saying

life is a great canvas

Throw all the paint you can on it “

When we see the sun dance with the rain, most of us have the habit of rushing to the terrace to experience the beauty of the colours - violet, indigo, blue, green, yellow, orange and red holding hands to form the rainbow. One can feel a sense of exhilaration while the eyes behold the arched wonder.

Though impermanent the rainbow stands magnificent before our eyes. It represents the culmination of different emotions and characteristic traits - a true symbol of optimism. Just like the rainbow, so are our dreams, though indistinctive is a blend of expectations and aspirations for which we dare to realize it before our eyes.

One such celebration heralding positivity, love and forgiveness is the festival of Holi - the festival of colours, when colours itself become the celebration of life and relationships, where colours speak louder than words. So colour up your life and add your splash of colour in other people's lives too.

HAPPY HOLI
