I had the privilege of performing in the Chidambaram Natyanjali festival that took place near the Chidambaram temple on February 23rd along with my teacher and a few other students. This was part of their yearly dance festival that takes place around the time of Shivaratri to please Lord Nataraja, the Lord of Dance. We performed a part of a varnam dedicated to Lord Shiva. It was a rare opportunity, and it was amazing to dance in Chidambaram, and especially to share the stage with my guru! It was great to watch the other dance styles and observe how their style was different from ours. We watched a lot of young dancers take over the stage and give truly mesmerising performances! I am really grateful for this opportunity, and it was a great learning experience as well as a lot of fun! Even if only for 20 minutes, we all danced energetically and gracefully. It was a great performance and we all really enjoyed it.
