Ballet Dance

Dance is an intrinsic part of Indian culture. Different forms of dance originated from different parts of India. We have numerous styles of dances, like classical or folk, developed in different parts of the states. Each form of dance brings out the hue and texture of that particular region. Apart from our dances we have also brought in different forms of dances from other Western and European countries like Jazz, Salsa, etc. So now we have new forms of dances like Bollywood, contemporary, hip-hop.  In the recent times one form of dance gaining popularity is the Russian Ballet.

Ballet was once considered to be an elite recreation. Due to the exposure of many Indian and western dances in different reality shows of media Ballet is raising in popularity. Ballet originated in the royal courts of medieval France which was performed in the grand theatres of Europe and Russia. Art and expression come together beautifully in this form of dance. Ballet dancers make it look effortless as they move across the stage from the lifts to the toe points by mere practice. There is nothing natural about ballet. Your body goes against its very nature. An early start of Ballet for your kids when they are very young will be very appropriate. They are very flexible with malleable bone structures and can adapt to changes very easily.

When the kids are in pre teens or teens it becomes difficult as this dance form requires complex training with total commitment. In India it gets more difficult to put in the extended hours of practice for the kids due to surpass the hurdles like academics, and availability of trained teachers. Also support system from government makes it difficult  for one to take it up as a career. The tide is slowly turning. Ballet is no more just spins, splits and pirouettes. The recently held Ballet Festival of India in Mumbai is a proof by itself. We have approximately 40 ballet schools across the country. Few Indian dancers have been able to make it to reputed academics in Europe and also perform in the grand theatres abroad.

For any pursuit of excellence, you need a lot of practise. The new generations of kids with a passion for the dance are determined to bring in a change. With experienced teachers and more oppurtunities for serious training and performances, the number of students are increasing. Very soon ballet education should  be opened up for many through the school curriculum. One day our kids could be dancing across stages all over the country and beyond.
