1. What are the basic background requirements for a professional photographer?

A photographer must be able to create a good composition of any subject, a piece of machinery, the beauty of human body, scenery or a child’s smile. It is rightly said that a single picture can sometimes be much more eloquent than a thousand words. Few occasions offer a larger variety of prospects than does photography. Personal attributes and skills to be a photographer should have both creativity and technical knowledge.  One must have that extra quality and interest in visuals, colour, light etc.

2. What is the Scope of Photography as a career in India?

In India photography is fast emerging in all fields as a popular career choice among all the age groups. It is both a profession of both science and art. It is an artistic means of expression the camera replacing the pen or the paintbrush.

 3. How can students pursue photography as career and what are the courses in photography both in India and abroad?

  A Number of institutes and universities offer certificate and diploma courses in photography. Some offer it as 3 year integrated courses and subsidiary subjects.

  1. What is the freedom of photography?

Freedom of panorama (FOP) is a provision in the copyright laws of various jurisdictions that permits taking photographs, video footage and creating other images such as paintings of buildings. Also with sometimes sculptures, other art works which are permanently located in a public place without infringing on any copyright that may otherwise subsist in such works and the publishing of such images. Panorama freedom statutes or case law limit the right of the copyright owner to take action for breach of copyright against the creators and distributors of such images. It is an exception to the normal rule that the copyright owner has the exclusive right to authorize the creation and distribution of derivative works. The phrase is derived from the German term panorama freiheit (Panorama Freedom)

  1. How did you get into this photography career?

I had interest in photography right from my school days.  I used to experiment it with my own family pictures and accidentally a friend of mine persuaded me to take photography for his own wedding. That was back in the day of film and I remember nervously shooting a lot of rolls expecting atleast a few to be good. Surprisingly an album of photos worked out. With that I became a part time wedding photographer for next 3 years. I dint ever see myself going full time as I was doing another photography course for another profession. But those years taught me a lot in photography for what I am today in different fields of photography.

I own a studio of my own with all high tech photographic equipments and am at the need of my friends, relatives and customers to their full satisfaction and appreciation.

 7. What is your piece of advice for youngsters who enter this career?

Time is all you have; Optimize and automate
