The eminent psychiatrist John H Reitmann once said that "It takes an average person almost twice as long to understand a sentence that uses a negative approach than it does to understand a positive sentence".
Language is an exceedingly powerful tool. Whether you communicate orally or in written form, the way you express yourself will affect whether your message is received positively or negatively.
Child rearing is a delicate job. Parenting at younger age is also equally so. A saying goes that a mother is also born only when a baby is born.
As the baby grows, the parents want to teach whatever all she/he should not do, because it harms, hurts and hampers. The child normally asks the parents 'why?' It shouldn't be attempted. We never have the patience or the time to explain. There starts the parental negativism in the perceptions of the child.
The child often tends to become rebellious. When not noticed or behind the back of parents she/he attempts to attempt those things that are harmful to that particular age of the child. Curiosity kills the cat.
<p
>Hence, have patience to explain to the child what happens when she/he does certain things. Always remember a positive citizen will be in the making for common good of the society at large.
Since childhood, a child that faces positive language from the parent looks at the world differently. The whole world seems to be full of opportunities to learn and also purvey the same to their peers. In school and public places a positively reared child stands out distinctly. It speaks fluently, boldly and sensibly. It easily attracts the attention in a crowd. The child's learning capabilities in school and elsewhere is far superior than others.
We shall learn to use positive language everywhere, especially with children. It pays to enrich the society we live - make it a paradise on earth!
Thirukkural also explains the same:
If the children's intelligence is more than that of parents
It will be a joy to all the living beings on the earth.
