Sudha Murthy was born on 19th august, 1950 at Shiggaon, karnataka, India.  she had her education in BVB college of Engineering and Bangalore IISC. She is a social activist, writer and the Chairperson of Infosys Foundation. She started her career as a computer science engineer. She became the first female engineer in Tata Engineering and Locomotive Company, India's leading auto manufacturer. She worked in many places like Mumbai,pune and  Jamshedpur.  It was in TELCO she met her soulmate, Narayana Murthy. After marraige  she worked in Walchand group of companies for few years after which she moved to Bangalore .In 1983, Infosys was started and in 1996 Sudha Murthy joined the board of trustees.

A swing in the wind changed her professional path as her interests turned towards developing organisations for needy, for rural development and other social activities.  She also  put forth her efforts in introducing computers and libraries in the government schools of her native state. Sudha Murthy is also the jury of public health care initiatives of the Gates Foundation.

Besides her journey at work, the unforgettable memories of her childhood, gave birth to an author – Sudha Murthy. She started her writing career in her 30s and is successfully publishing her books since then. Those comprised of computer based technical books, children’s short stories, books on her real life and novels. Her stories inspire young readers to know the reality of life. Most of her wrtings were in Kannada and English. It was also translated into several other Indian languages and recognized worldwide. Latest among them are 'Three Thousand Stitches', 'Hindu Mother Muslim Son' and 'A Women’s Rituals'.

Her first novel 'House of Cards', was about the disruption and chaos faced by the wife of a well paid doctor. One of her famous book 'How I taught my grandmother to read and other stories' was translated into 15 other languages. It entirely reflects the days of her childhood with her grandparents. Book written by her in Kannada, Dollar Sose was translated into English as Dollar Bahu, which then was introduced in the screens of Zee Television. She has also authored other Kannada books namely Runa, Kaveri Inda Meekaangige, Hakkiya Teradalli, Athirikthe and Gottundu Heluve.

She was always on top from her childhood and received many awards. She was honoured with Rajalakshmi award in 2004, for her outstanding contribution to social work. In 2006, she was awarded the Padma Shri, a civilian award from the Government of India and received an honorary doctorate. In 2011 she was conferred honorary Doctor of Laws(LL.D)degrees for her contribution to promote legal education and scholarship in India. Also awarded Basava Shree 2013 award for her contribution to society.

Lets end by recalling her words once- "Life is an exam where the syllabus is unknown and question papers are not set. Nor are there model answer papers". She is one women with multiple roles in progression. Let her be an inspiration to our children in many ways. An inspiring woman in multiple ways....indeed
