Chennai is the epicenter of Carnatic music for decades now. In the recent times, we have seen the rising of some young, energetic and vibrant Carnatic musicians from Chennai. These young generation musicians for sure know how to rock the Kutcheris and Sabhas. They are very well known maestros in their respective instruments and having travelled the globe multiple times, they are some of the most successful and sought after musicians from India today. Aravind Bhargav is one of the best Mandolin players in India in the younger generation now.

            ARAVIND BHARGAV – MANDOLIN

  • Aravind Bhargav debuted in 2008 and has been performing consistently in all the major Sabhas and organizations.
  • Aravind was a disciple of the Mandolin Maestro Late Padmasri U. Srinivas and now with his brother Sri U.Rajesh. His favourite ragas are Malayamaarutham and Hanumatodi.
  • Aravind started his musical journey at the age of 6 years. Aravind hails from a musical background. His father, K. Srikantan and his family have traditionally been great fans of classical music, his mother, S. Gnana Prasuna, a vocalist, is a disciple of DR. M. Balamuralikrishna, with credits of performances on AIR and stage who encouraged him with many inputs. His grandmother, N. Lakshmi was a Veena artist and music composer.
  • Aravind is a passionate musician by nature who can make the clouds evoke musical rain, his strength being impromptu improvisation. He is recognized as one of the young and efficient mandolin player in India today. Aravind has won the title “Sukha Naada Chudar Oli” by Apoorva Ragam and Padmasri U Srinivas Memorial Award at the Trinity Arts Foundation, Chennai. He has also won the title “Sunaada Gaana Jhari” by Gana Mukundapriya.
  • Aravind Bhargav is also an empanelled artist of Tamilnadu Iyal Isai Nataka Mandram from 2012.
  • He is now prominent in many concerts in Chennai.

 Padmasri U. Shrinivas, charmed Aravind falling in love with music created on the little instrument, mandolin. U. Shrinivas’s love for all his disciples and his dedication and commitment in passing on his knowledge to them has helped Aravind to appreciate, enjoy and perform music to the best of his ability.

As his Guru says Aravind Bhargav also feels music is a big ocean and he has a life time worth of musical learning to do. He feels blessed by God’s grace, his Gurus and elders for his achievements. He says he owes his inspiration to his foresighted and supportive uncle, Saroj. He would like to perform more and take Carnatic Classical Music to a larger audience all over the world.

Aravind Bhargava has already completed 300 performances.
