Who are Authors? Why do we celebrate author’s day?
An author is the creator or originator of any written work such as a book or play, and is also considered a writer. More broadly defined, an author is "the person who originated or gave existence to anything" and whose authorship determines responsibility for what he/she has created, the ones who have written novels, poems, graphic novels, text books, and so much more.
Back in the 1500s, William Shakespeare, being the most famous author enthralling and satirizing royalty and common people in ways that still resonate today, all the way to J.K. Rowling and Stephen King, who can create both fantastical and horrifying worlds and landscapes that allow us to reflect and provides us an insight on our own more mundane realities.
We may have only one favorite author or many collected works with which we cannot part. Whether we prefer fiction, non-fiction, or a mix of both, authors have been telling stories to fill our heads for thousands of years. Their tales create remarkable memories of places, sealing it between the pages of the binding and their books inspire us to keep visiting them again and again.
Author’s Day commemorates all the wonders that have been spun into the world by the pen of these creative souls. Every year on 1st November millions of people celebrate author’s day. This is a day to celebrate the author we love and the hard work and dedication that goes into the book we enjoy. Regardless of what time period or where they’re from they always had the ability to teach, entertain and move us. These are the people that make those stories come alive and we are grateful to them.
