The story is about a boy named Danny and his father who owns a tiny filling station. They live in a caravan. They heard of an arrogant man named Mr Victor Hazell who is about to conduct a pheasant shooting party in Hazell Woods. Danny and his father want to spoil the party and poach all the pheasants in the forest give it off to the villagers, making sure there's nothing left for Mr Hazell's party. Do they succeed in doing so? Did they manage to catch the pheasants in the forests? That's the story is all about.
I loved the way the author takes the reader through the journey of Danny and his father take through the forest. It was very interesting and thrilling. The illustrations, done by Quentin Blake, were great. It helps the reader to see what it was really like to be in that place and time of the story. Overall it was very sensible.
I love Roald Dahl because his stories are suspensive in nature. Next to BFG, his favourite book is Danny and the Champion Of The World and I hope it is your favourite too.
