“Mummy, if you ever send me to school, I shall be so naughty there that they shall send me back home!” This is how my favorite book, “The naughtiest girl in school”, begins. My favorite author, Enid Blyton has written this book. Judging from the title of the book, you must have decided that this book is going to be about a naughty, stuck-up girl.

Yes, Elizabeth Allen is a single child whose wonderful parents have bought her so many beautiful things that she turns out to be a spoilt little girl, used to getting whatever she wants. This is why her parents decide to send her to a boarding school called Whyteleaf. Elizabeth doesn’t want to go to the school, and when her parents force her, she decides to be so naughty there that the school would send her back home.

But Whyteleaf turns out to be a delightful place with so many interesting people that Elizabeth slowly starts changing and learning about discipline and kindness. While the other children in school hate her at first for being so spoilt, they couldn’t resist the little girl’s charm and Elizabeth soon starts making friends.

Now why do I like this book? Well, I started reading this book when schools were closed for the pandemic. This book took me to an awesome school called the Whyteleaf. Just like in my school, this place had earnest teachers, fun games, mischievous students and tales of friendship. As I read about Elizabeth’s adventures in school, I felt as if I was reading about my school. It made me miss my school and enjoy her school. I completed this book and every book in this series, joining Elizabeth and her friends in their school journey.

And did I tell you? Enid Blyton wrote this book in 1940. Now, if a book written in 1940 can inspire a girl to enjoy school in 2021, shouldn’t it be incredible? Read the book and I am sure you will agree with me!
