Extinct means which no longer exists.

On our earth some species are extinct. But historically the average rate of extinction has been slow nowadays.

Here let me share some species which are no longer extinct.

Dodo :

The dodo is an extinct flightless bird. Dodo was about 1 metre to 3 feet, its appearance in life is only evidenced by drawings, paintings from the 17th century.

It has been depicted with brownish- grey, yellow feet, a tuf of tail feathers, a grey, naked head, and black, yellow and green beak. Dodo extinction was not immediately noticed , and some considered it to be a myth.

Golden Toad :

The golden toad is one of the extinct species. The last sighting of a single male golden toad was on 15 May 1989, it has been classified as extinct by the International Union for Conservation of nature. Body length ranged from 39 to 48 mm in male and from  42 to 56 mm in females. The average lifespan of Golden Toad is 10 to 12 years.

Javan Tiger :

Javan tiger native is Indonesia lost their habitat due to an increase in agricultural industry. Male Javan tigers are 248 cm and 141 kg, Female Javan tigers are smaller than males and weigh between 75 and 115 kg. An unofficial report of Javan Tigers from enthusiasts who believe tigers still exist in Java. In 2016, Javan tiger was photographed in Mount Ayuno in East Java , later it was  identified as Javan Leopard.

Some common reasons for animals being extinct may be because of toxic pollution, sometimes humans cause extinction of a species through overharvesting , habitat destruction, and climate change. According to the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), 784 extinctions have been recorded since the year 1500.

As a part of this article, a small initiative can be taken from each one of us, not to give toxic pollution to our environment, the earth is not only for humans, but also for birds, animals etc…
