NAVARATRI
We are celebrating navaratri for 9days. 26 September to 5 October .We celebrate navaratri by keeping golu in our house.
- SHALIPUTRI
Navaratri begins with Goddess Shaliputri, which means daughter of mountains. She is the daughter of Himavan the king of Himalayas. Shaliputri is considered as purest embodiment of Goddess Durga.
- BRAHMACHARINI
The name Brahmacharini means the one who practices devout austerity. She holds a rosary in her right hand and Kamandal in her left. Lord Mangal the God of all fortunes is governed by this Goddess .
- CHANDRAGHANTA
Chandraghanta is the third Durga. She represents peace, tranquility and prosperity in life. Chandraghanta is derived form two Sanskrit words, Chandra (half-moon) and ghanta( bell) which means she has a Half moon shaped Bell.
- KUSHMANDA
Goddess Kushmanda is worshipped on the fourth day of navaratri. She is considered the creator of the universe as she is the one who brought light to the dark cosmos.
- SKANDA MATA
Skanda Mata is worshipped on the fifth day of navaratri. She is the mother of Lord Kartikeya or Skanda who was chosen as commander in chief by the gods in the war against demons .
- KATYAYANI
Goddess Katyani is worshipped on the sixth day of navaratri. She is the most violent form of the Goddess. Her notable feature are her four arms. She is also a warrior Goddess.
- KAAL RATRI
Kaal Ratri is also known as Shubhamkari which means the doer of good. She is a fearsome manifestation of Durga with dark skin, disheveled hair, three eyes and four arms. She is worshipped on the seventh day of navaratri as the protector of her devotees making them fearless.
- MAHA GAURI
Maha Gauri means extremely white. She was named Maha Gauri for her luminous beauty, which radiates from her body. She is worshipped on the eight day of navaratri.
- SIDDHIDATRI
Siddhidatri is worshipped on the ninth and the final day of navaratri. Her name means giver of supernatural power. Siddhidatri bestows wisdom and insight to those who worship her.
