Water is an indispensable resource without which mankind cannot exist. It is one of the five basic elements in the world. More than 75% of the earth is made up of water. It is present in the form of rivers, ponds, seas, and oceans. When we have so much water then why are we constantly battling with the problem of water scarcity? We have plenty of water but all are not potable. Our earth is having a tough time in quenching the thirst of the huge growing population all over the world. Statistical data says that 97 percent of the total water body is saline and is unfit for consumption. In the remaining 3 percent, 2 percent is in the form of glaciers and left over 1% is used for human consumption. In that scarce amount that is left, if we contaminate and misuse, it is going to create havoc for the whole world. So we should start saving water. Here are a few tips to save water from getting wasted or from getting polluted
- We should start using buckets because they reduce half the usage of water that we use regularly. For example, if we bathe in the running water of the shower, we will land up using upto 100 liters of water. But if we use a bucket we will hardly use 25 to 30 liters of water.
- We should stop throwing dead bodies inside holy water bodies like the Ganga or Yamuna which can pollute the water so badly.
- We must spread awareness to the people about the importance of water so that people start respecting the water bodies and start using it judiciously.
If we follow these methods we can save water. This is a must, because if we the future generation don't save water, we are the ones who will suffer as a result of it. Hence, I would like to conclude by requesting everyone to save water for a better future
